Valley High; lot of memories, lot of ties to the school. My mother and all 6 of her siblings went there, the Cone family. Of course, so did I as well as my "little" sister Kathleen(Kathy)Doty(Class of 1970). Four of my cousins also attended Valley; the Shutt "kids", Shirley, Bill, Loretta & Russell(Butch). My wife went to school there, Linda Billings(Class of 1965). Linda & I moved to Texas in 1968 and have lived in and around Houston ever since. I bet don't live but 15 minutes from Nan Hays(small world). |

Things I remember: the Tavern on lower Fifth in WDM, still the best 'Grinders made. Coach Coldiron, Coach Neubauer, Smilin' Jack(Elgin) *fond smile*. Miss Kirk, Mr Flick(God bless them both), Scarpino's in the Heights(Windsor that is), best pizza around. The Sand Pits on Friday/Saturday nights. KIOA, KSO and dedicatin' songs to each other. Scoopin' the Loop, Russ & Abbie's on SE 14th Street. Vaseline on the class room door knobs*L* Tom Karpon sayin' "it's later than you think"; Mrs Kartchner and readin' the Classics. Those were the days, weren't they?*smiles* |
